Addition

There are many rules of math, but addition is my favorite.

You start out with one, and you add another and get two. If you add another you get three, and if you add three more you get six. There's no way to subtract when you add, because there are always going to be more than there were in the first place.

See? It makes sense. If you put two and two together, soon you're going to end up with eight because so many more are incorporated. That's the beauty of addition: you don't realize it as quick and rashly as multiplication, because it creeps in slowly and almost naturally without the difficulty of having to realize it. It's a simple thing, really, that everyone loves because of its basic nature. If you're in Algebra you need to do it, and if you're in Calculus you can't do without it. It's the common denominator, if you will, of the people.

It's not like dividing at all. Dividing is an ugly process that makes everything significantly reduced and small. You don't want that for your life: it's no good. You rather see yourself in the midst of lots of plus signs and greater than symbols. I don't know if that's how you see it, but it's definitely how I do. It's also how life sees it right now, too. In the stages that take us to the local maximum and relative minimum points of the sin curve that is our life, this addition is one of the highest points plotted on the first quadrant that ends in infinity. Right now, life is adding friends and loved ones. Right now, on this uphill ride, I'm opening the door of the clowncar I rented and letting all of these wonderful people in. No one knows where we're going, but at least we know we have a destination. We're all different, and I never knew any of you before, but I'm glad right now you're part of the wonderful addition I cherish.
